Our children will inherit payments over 3 times larger than those we will be paying in the early years of the bond. There are no ear marks for reducing class sizes, and zero funds for middle school autism programs that are being relocated.

Our Children Will Own This Debt

  • Because of the significant early year underpayments on the debt our children will be paying 3 times the burden we are paying
  • The board extended the bonds from 20 years to 25 years a 25% increase in the length of the bonds moving more of the burden to children

Special Needs Students Suffer

  • There are no middle school center programs for students with autism, forcing 6th graders to middle school denies these students of a year of services

Moving 6th grade to middle school is bad for students

  • Moving 6th grade to middle schools reduces the amount of time students spend in reading and writing classes
  • 6th graders in middle schools have more discipline problems than those in elementary schools
  • If 6th graders are forced to move to middle school those students that are most at risk will lose title one as only one middle school involved is a title one middle school
